Lesedi Cultural Village - multi cultural village

Lesedi is located in the rocky Magaliesberg hills 45 minutes from Johannesburg, The Lesedi Cultural Village is a multi cultural village developed as a tourist attraction in 1995. Lesedi meaning "light" features the tribal villages, ancestral traditions, history and culture, including the art, song and dance of five distinctly different cultural villages: Zulu (warrior nation) are the largest South African ethnic group who live mainly in the KwaZulu-Natal Province of South Africa.

Their houses are characteristic beehive huts. Xhosa (proud nation) are a group of people originally from south-east region of South Africa. Their traditional crafts include beadwork, weaving, and pottery and their houses are identified as a thatched hut with distinct white blankets. Pedi (warm hearted nation) refers to a ruling group which established its dominance over other groups of Northern Sotho in the 18th century, and to the culture and lifestyle of that group.

They are described as rhythmic musicians. Basotho (mountain dwelling nation) is a population native to Lesotho who is well-known for their coloured Blankets and straw hats. Ndebele (artistic nation) are a group made up of the tribes of people living in South Africa and Zimbabwe. They are famous for their colorfully crafted homes.
